CARE AND STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Proper care will prolong the lifespan of your shyrdak:

• Use a sponge and soapy water to remove stains and dirt from the carpet. For drying, you can use an iron or sunlight.
• Clean the carpet with a vacuum cleaner on low power, without using any attachments.
• Shake the carpet outdoors and beat out the dust with a stick or a carpet beater.
• Twice a year, hang the carpet in direct sunlight for 3 hours.
• Make sure to treat the product with moth spray and store it in a dry place for further storage.

As of today, shyrdak is one of the rarest types of carpet weaving in Kyrgyzstan. To preserve this tradition for centuries, the shyrdak has been included in the list of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage in urgent need of protection.
